Position Summary
He/she is responsible for the proper operation of the Irradiator, in coordination with the Irradiator Operations Manager, to ensure that the treatment plan is carried out within the established timeframes in accordance with the production schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the Irradiator safely and immediately report any malfunction or anomaly to the Radiation Safety Officer and/or the Irradiator Maintenance Supervisor.
Coordinate the irradiation program with the work team.
Verify that pallets prepared for treatment meet the plant specifications in order to avoid issues inside the irradiator.
Attend all training sessions assigned by the company.
In the event of an irradiation system failure, perform the basic checks established to restore the irradiator’s operation.
Report all failures to the maintenance area.
Support the maintenance supervisor with irradiator maintenance tasks when required.
Perform radiological safety tests of the irradiator as required.
Periodically carry out radiation level surveys.
Follow radiological safety protocols when entering the irradiation chamber with assigned personnel.
Report equipment failures to the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
Understand and apply the obligations for the Authorized Operator (POE) as established in the General Radiological Safety Regulations.
Report to the Irradiator Operations Manager any changes to the process plan before implementation.
Key Requirements
Preferably a technical or professional degree in electromechanics, electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field.
Availability to work rotating shifts.
Forklift operation experience preferred.
Experience in industrial processes preferred.
Teamwork skills.
