From the very first concrete pour to the precise alignment of the accelerators beamline, every step has been driven by a singular goal: to deliver sterilization with truly exceptional dose uniformity and throughput.
The IBA Rhodotron TT1000 itself is a compact, high‑energy electron accelerator that uses a cylindrical microwave cavity to accelerate electrons through repeated passes. Electrons enter the cavity, gain energy from a high‑power RF source, and are steered around by a magnetic field so they pass through the cavity dozens of times, each pass boosting their energy. Once they reach the desired electron energy, the beam is extracted and directed onto a tantalum target, where the sudden deceleration of electrons produces high‑intensity bremsstrahlung X‑rays. These X‑rays are then shaped and scanned over the product load, providing deep, penetrating irradiation without direct contact.
Thanks to the Rhodotrons high‑current X‑ray capabilities, we achieve excellent dose uniformity across every pallet and bulk load, ensuring consistent microbial inactivation with minimal impact on product quality. Our unrivaled throughput means faster turnaround for customers critical supplies—everything from medical disposables to premium food ingredients.
Moreover, BENEBION will be the first plant in the world to offer variable scan technology, dynamically adjusting beam scan patterns to tailor dose distribution to the individual product needs. By Q1 2027, the facility will be fully certified to all relevant FDA and international standards, completing a rigorous commissioning process conducted hand‑in‑hand with IBAs expert engineers.
