Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager – Gamma Irradiation Plant will lead maintenance operations for BENEBION’s gamma irradiation facility in Matehuala.
This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant infrastructure, conveyor systems, industrial equipment, automation systems, utilities, and facility support systems.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical and organizational capabilities with hands-on industrial maintenance experience and leadership skills.
The position works closely with operations, engineering, radiation safety personnel, external contractors, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
Develop and maintain maintenance schedules and asset management systems.
Ensure high equipment reliability and operational uptime.
Coordinate troubleshooting and repair of industrial systems and infrastructure.
Maintain spare parts inventories and maintenance documentation.
Departments & Systems Overseen
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leadership and coordination of the following departments and operational areas:
Facilities Maintenance
Irradiator Maintenance
Water Management Systems
Industrial Systems & Equipment
Oversee maintenance of conveyor systems, motors, gearboxes, chains, rollers, and material handling equipment.
Support maintenance of industrial electrical systems, automation equipment, PLC-controlled systems, and instrumentation.
Coordinate maintenance of refrigeration systems, pumps, compressed air systems, water treatment systems, cooling infrastructure, and facility utilities.
Support inspection and maintenance of irradiator systems, radiation-related infrastructure, and operational safety systems.
Coordinate with equipment suppliers and specialized contractors when required.
Team Leadership
Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and contractors.
Support training and technical development of maintenance personnel.
Promote disciplined troubleshooting and root-cause analysis methodologies.
Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and best practices.
Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure maintenance activities comply with industrial safety standards and operational procedures.
Support lockout/tagout and electrical safety programs.
Participate in operational risk assessments and safety reviews.
Support compliance with regulatory and operational requirements applicable to irradiation facilities.
Maintain organized technical documentation and maintenance records.
Continuous Improvement & Projects
Identify opportunities for reliability improvement and operational optimization.
Support facility upgrades, automation improvements, and capital projects.
Participate in commissioning and startup of new systems and equipment.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on process improvements.
Key Requirements
Required
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
Significant experience in industrial maintenance leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills.
Ability to lead technical teams in industrial environments.
English and Spanish professional communication skills.
Preferred
Experience with conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
Experience with PLCs, industrial automation systems, and VFDs.
Experience in industrial processing, manufacturing, logistics, food processing, sterilization, or technical facilities.
Experience with CMMS or maintenance management systems.
Experience supporting high-availability industrial operations.
Familiarity with radiation processing or regulated industrial environments.
